I owned, restored and sold a W108 1970 280SE (Arabian ray/parchment) and a W109 300SEL 3.5 (tobacco brown/cognac leather and burled walnut interior) between 1986 and 1992, when they were considered VERY desirable. I repainted each and did everyething else to make them concours award winners in local and national MBCA events. I sold the 280SE for $10K to a CT doctor and the 300SEL 3.5 sedan for $13K to a credit card company for use in their promotional parades.
I am not so sure what each would bring in today's anemic sedan market. The 300SEL 6.3 is considered a "muscle car" and prices for those is stronger than ever.
