I can tell you exactly what happened because I did this myself. When they put 
the engine in when they were putting the u pipe for the air cleaner back on one 
of the big o rings was not seated in there right and got sucked into the turbo 
and caused exactly what you described. Had it happen to me seen several cars it 
happened to
