Of course computers made by apple are personal computers. However
the MS/DOS (later wintel) crowd claimed "Personal computer" to mean a
MS/DOS machine upon the release of the IBM PC almost 30 years ago.
Even Apple acquiesced to the terminology in their Mac vs PC ads a few
years ago.
unfortunate, but that is the way it is. "PC" means "M$" or "M$ or
*nix" Mac means any PC running the Mac os.
If you are running *nix on a mac platform, then you are left out of
the industry terminology, so you have to say "*nix running on a mac"
to describe yourself.
Kind of like "is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable?"

If you are going to go PC,
Isn't an Apple a PC? Personal Computer? Some of the first ones
were made by Apple. And Atari, and Commodore, etc.
