W216 is a larger car but not the W124 engineering is in the cage, I realize, but the safety is not any worse in W123 not that I need, anyway. The issue is in speed and awareness. Keep to posted speed and be aware. W123 is not good for mindless drivers today, but given attentiveness and care, W123 is fine, that's all. Sure, tests show better than W123 for W126 & W124, I'm sure - but tests cannot beat skill and agility of driver.
