True, although on 124s it's more likely to be the teeny-tiny aspirator motor that draws air over the interior temp sensor that has failed. I've dealt with that before on another car. (I'm not even sure that the 124 has a *foam* tube per se; I think it may be more substantial.) The symptoms I'm seeing here, though, aren't the same as when the aspirator died on my other car. "Wandering" doesn't really describe it---its more like the temperature control part of the ACC circuit toggles between working fine and not working at all. Nevertheless, I ought to rule out the aspirator just in case---it's easy enough to test whether the sucker is still sucking.
