Anyone knowledgeable about these things?

I have one of the basic code readers from a few years ago that has served me well.

However, I believe that there are better ones out there that will let you run a scan while driving. Mine is only to be used with the engine off.

I guess the next question is whether there is software and an interface that would permit one to do it with a laptop computer.
