Tread unwrapping on the I- highway, beating the bejeebers out of everything within 3 feet for a few seconds, before it goes its own way, before the car got stopped. Bumper cover, fender, hood, inner fender, the plastic deal at the bottom of the fender, fender trim, the door and the plastic trim and the plastic deal at the bottom of the door. Maybe there was more, but the damage was astounding.

$2500 was not parts only, but body shop price to return it all to the condition before the tire did the damage. The tire was still holding air. (properly inflated) Jokohama. Car: 124

When a 195/65-15 tosses its tread on the front of a 124, you
 are looking at $2500 damage.

Are you guys talking about the tread coming off - or the casing
coming apart? It's pretty rare for just the tread to come off.
