Really? I always thought a W123 300D turbo was more in the 26mpg average range. I've averaged 28mpg with my '78 240D over the last 21,000 miles which is exactly the same as I got with my '83 240D over 80,000 miles. Thats mostly highway miles.
I was thinking that if Peter was getting 2-3mpg more than I thought normal for a 300D that maybe he could average 30mpg with a 240D. I've had both my 240Ds up to 32mpg with very gentle driving but on my normal commute I just can't be bothered. -Curt Date: Fri, 24 Feb 2012 16:54:48 -0600 From: Fmiser <fmi...@gmail.com> To: Mercedes Discussion List <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Subject: Re: [MBZ] Portland, OR CL: nice 300CD Message-ID: <20120224165448.a8cfa80b.fmi...@gmail.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII > Peter Hertzing wrote: > Okay... Because the turbocharger increases engine efficiency, reducing the number of cylinders and loosing the turbo will probably cancel out. In my experience, a turbo 300 in good condition can get _better_ fuel mileage than a normally-aspirated 240 - especially above 50 to 55 MPH (80-90 km/h). But I'm with you on the manual heater controls! -- Philip _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
