I rode in the back of an MD88 last month, I always carry earplugs anyway but was especially glad I had them on that trip.

It wasn't capable of inducing hearing damage IMO, but I was certainly surprised at the noise level. Is the Dash-8 noisy because it's small, or because of the propellers?
