Oh, oh, oh. Please pardon me; 'zackly that occurred to me after it sent it.
Good luck; 'hope it holds OK.
A can of refrigerant occasionally can be tolerated fairly well. ;<)

That's on a Ford Focus, not a 124 chassis.
BTDT, too. Only that one I paid for. Ouch.

My AC evaporator was supposedly leaking, according to the dealer, but I
popped a can of the Wallyworld R134a with stop leak in it and it's been
fine ever since.
It seemed to lose efficiency every 4-6 months, so I had them take a
look. When they told me it was an evaporator leak ($1600) I passed on
the repair.

Ours has 149,000 miles. We've had broken strut springs, a transmission
problem, failed AC evaporator, collapsed motor mounts, and now this.

Both of mine are on the top side of 100,000 miles.
My 2004 wagon has a little over 150k and the son's 2005 sedan has
almost 170k. Both run very well and have been very good
maintenance-wise. The most expensive item to-date has been tires.
After that, the son's sedan needed a new shifter ($300) and I had to
put a new rear wheel bearing on mine because I curbed the wheel
($200).
Those have been the only non-maintenance expenses we've had so far.
