I have successfully used the next larger sized Allen key, regardless of measurement system (inches, MM, etc.), ground hollows into the sides, leaving the six corners rather sharp, then pounded it into the rounded hole. I have used a standard Alln wrench, then cut off 5/8" or so, and turned it with the appropriate sized socket.
