It is much easier to back _into_ the parking spot with a long
vehicle. And it's kinda necessary to have adequate mirror. The
longer the combination (truck plus trailer) the more beneficial
it is to back in.
This is because the steerable end is the last end to have it's
maneuverability restricted.
