Missed that sentence. Seems the motor was certified about 10 years ago. And the 182 has been certified forever. But unclear if the specific 182/Diesel design is type certified.

"The new Cessna 182 NXT is already certified by both the Federal Aviation Administration and the European Aviation Safety Agency." Its already done certified, no begging any questions. -Curt Date: Wed, 25 Jul 2012 16:23:47 -0400 From: "Scott Ritchey" <[email protected]> To: "'Mercedes Discussion List'" <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [MBZ] Cessna diesel engine Message-ID: <7D4F0166A0C34B10A4A95F762D2058DB@ScottPC> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" I wonder if this aviation diesel engine uses traditional mechanical injection or the current high-pressure common-rail electronic injectors. That begs the question of getting an engine FAA certified for general aviation and commercial sale. General aviation airframes and engines in the US have changed little in the last 50 years because of certification and liability concerns so this is not a trivial issue. Or maybe (like euro diesel cars) they don't care about the FAA or the US legal system. If so, that says a LOT about America's place in the new world order. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Rich Thomas Sent: Wednesday, July 25, 2012 10:36 AM To: Mercedes Discussion List Subject: [MBZ] Cessna diesel engine http://www.wired.com/autopia/2012/07/cessna-turbo-diesel --R _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
