Well I thought that the difference was the resistors soldered inside the
units. Specifically I thought the resistors were calibration for the
different horse power of the engine. For example if the 300SD one was put in
a 560SEL then it would press gas a lot to increase speed a little bit.

I think on the latter ones '87 and newer they had the calibration in a
module that plugged in beside the connector.

Now I am often wrong but these were the assumptions that I had been using.

I guess you could sell the stack you have to one of the rebuilders of these
amps.

Subject: [MBZ] cruise control question

Whats the deal with the cruise control amps? On the 14 pin versions
there are several different part numbers and the end parts have
different colors. Some are green, some orange, some blue, some black,
some white, etc. Have different part numbers as well. Some of the part
numbers will pull up in the EPC and some dont. The ones that do says
they are for whatever model that others will. I have a big pile of
them and have tested most of them in my 85 300D and the ones that work
all work in that car but they have different color codes and different
part numbers. Question is, whats the difference between them or is
there really a difference. Thinking maybe they are differt color codes
because they may have different refinements from earlier versions or
something. Also, anybody know how to tell which one goes to which car
based on the color coding or the old part numbers(because not all part
numbers will pull up)

Thanks
