The answer to your question is yes.  But the book says you need the same
brand caliper on both sides.  I'm guessing the piston area may differ.  OK
to have different types front and back but not side to side.

One of the pistons is frozen in the front brake caliper on the 74 240D.  It
is an ATE caliper.  The other 240D has a Bendix caliper.  Is the Bendix
compatible with the ATE mount/rotor?
