In case I wasn't clear, both Bendix and ATE calipers use the same rotor and
both will bolt up to the knuckle. But mixing types on the same axle (front
or back) will not provide satisfactory braking and may be dangerous. The
book says don't do it so (being half smart) I doubt anyone on this list
actually tried it.

The answer to your question is yes. But the book says you need the same
brand caliper on both sides. I'm guessing the piston area may differ. OK
to have different types front and back but not side to side.

Subject: [MBZ] ATE vs Bendix?

Hi All,

One of the pistons is frozen in the front brake caliper on the 74 240D.  It
is an ATE caliper.  The other 240D has a Bendix caliper.  Is the Bendix
compatible with the ATE mount/rotor?

Thanks,

Bruce
