The whole problem with ebay these days is it's frequented by people with
more money than brains. They have no idea what auction means. They just
keep bidding way over retail value for items sight unseen with no
warrenty. They think because it's an auction that theyre getting a deal.

You are completely correct. The same problem exists with 'live' auctions,
particularly the ones held by the itinerant companies who rent a big hotel
ballroom on Boxing Day or Labour Day and advertise 'inventory blowout' or
such. The people who go there are often paying close to retail, or even
over, with no real recourse or customer service (and they even buy stuff
like electronics and PCs).

The eBay psychology is interesting. For example, my biggest headaches (and I
mean HUGE) have been with customers buying late-model Volvo stuff. They are
beyond not having a clue. The vintage Volvo crowd are absolutely tip-top
people, love dealing with them, but the people with the more recent cars are
just plain lost. I mean, how can you purchase a piece of trim using Buy It
Now, FIVE DAYS before the end of the listing, then e-mail someone and say,
"oh, sorry but I forgot my interior is beige not black"?? This happened not
once but twice.

Mercedes stuff is harder to sell, but I rarely hear a peep back, either
during or after the transaction.

Oh, and I hate to say this but Canadians are the absolute worst. I have
nearly reached the point of not shipping to my own country. I kid you not.
No wonder e-commerce never took off up here as it did in the U.S.
