Can you leave the '84 300D cluster in the 300TD and the 300TD cluster in
the 300D? Or maybe just swap the fuel gauges? If they both work that way,
why fight it?

The resistance of the 330R in circuit is apparently being paralleled and
lowered by another resistance.
