Tell her that no matter how much cash you spend there is no guarantee that
even a brand new car will be more reliable. Just fix the E and call it a
day. She'll quit whining when you buy her nice things with the car payment
money.......lol

I see a lot more newish cars F.O.R.D than E300Ds (which to me is
still newish) I see very few MBs F.O.R.D.
You just need to find something else she wants more than a new car.
