Pouring coolant into top hose a la Jim works nicely for me, too, but my cars
are '87 124 and '91 126.

I get the air out by cracking open the top hose at the
radiator and pouring water in until it's running out over
my hand, then I push the hose on. That seems to do it.
Try parking with the nose significantly up. Ramps?
