Hm... 2007 R is Alpine's NTG2 unit. Dealer is probably insane in price. What does dead mean? No response at all? No audio? Could be another component that looks like a head unit problem.
The guys at Becker Auto Sound might be able to fix it or have another unit to exchange. Otherwise, dealer is the only source. Alpine did some service, but I'm not sure what they do these days. Maybe outsourced like everyone else.
