Call your Congresscritter and see if s/he could spring a $fewk from
USAID -- they do all kinds of things like that.
At the state level there might be some kind of fund for doing
"educational" things?
ADM, Monsanto, local feed/seed stores, etc. -- they sell all the seed to
the farmers, they could get some good PR off it. Hit each up for $1k,
that is noise level. Find the state-level manager and give him/her a ring.

I need some ideas from this august group. I man I met in Uganda while
there as a VOCA volunteer has qualified for a shortcourse in the USA,
at NDSU. Once he gets to Fargo, ND, all his expenses are paid by the
sponsoring organizations, USDA, and American Soybean Association.
They do not provide airfare to or frim the USA. The problem is that
the shortcourse starts on Aug 5, and the funds for his flight have
to be committed by July 17.
I have tried to find ways to help him raise the money, but so far have
had no success. I contacted the state soybean association and the guy
who was the VOCA coordinator for Uganda while I was there, and some
other people so far. I don't have a price for a ticket, but it will
be around $2000. He probably makes about $45 a month, so there is no
way he can afford a plane ticket.
I have volunteered to take him and some other folks (as many as I can
fit in my van) around after the shortcourse to visit related
businesses and farms. That is going to cost me a chunk of money, so
if I do that, I can's afford to contribute to the airfare.
If any of y'all know any bodies, or organizations that might be
willing to contribute to this effort, i'd appreciate any help I can
get. I'd guess ASA, ISA or NDSU might be willing to hold funds for
the ticket. If anyone know a friendly banker that would like to hold
the funds donated, that would be good also.
TIA
