Our '96 Passat tdi was the most reliable car I've ever owned, or at least it tied with the '88 Vanagon we stupidly opted to sell to my BIL, who now gets to bask in its effervescent bullet-proofitude. Our $800 '84 300D is currently on course to overtake both those stalwart workhorses, if all trends continue. My '87 300TD is presently tied with my '73 VW Thing for the most persnickety primadonna and pocket drainah of all time...I predict it will very soon reign supreme in this realm of ultimate shame.
