Fusion hybrid is rated for 47mpg but the big 4cyl (can't get a v6 anymore) is rated for 37mpg highway in a car thats more Camry than Corolla...
Hybrid's are always going to be a compromise and you have to consider how long before the difference in price pays for the extra fuel. With a diesel you have the added consideration of a car worth more when you go to sell it. A 10 year old Jetta gasser is worth maybe $3k with 150,000 miles. A 10 year old Jetta TDI is maybe $6k with 250,000 miles. -Curt Date: Sat, 31 Aug 2013 21:29:19 -0400 From: "Gerry Archer" <arche...@embarqmail.com> To: "Mercedes Discussion List" <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Subject: Re: [MBZ] RE; New car expensive parts. was: my kinda car Message-ID: <8397AF8EA310449E99D38593F18F6EA3@PC466116028214> Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="iso-8859-1"; reply-type=original I agree completely since my son has a hybrid Fusion. Problem is that I'm looking for around 40 mpg on the highway and 30 mpg around town. Hybrid Fusions cost about $10K more than I want to spend. Corollas, which are selling around here fairly cheaply, get up to 40 mpg on the highway, but I'd rather pay a little more and get something that's a little heavier and hopefully safer.
