The other thing to consider is that open highway driving with a hybrid gives significantly worse milage than an identical car without the batteries and electric motor(s). They are only an advantage in stop and go conditions, so if you drive more than three or four miles between stops, there is no gain at all. If you do a large portion of you milage on the highway, they are NOT a good option.

Check the city vs highway milage on them, you might get a surprise.
