Thats probably the nicest complaint I've heard about them. I'm shocked by how quickly they drop support for older models. 10 years is about the limit. Fortunately the TDI specific stuff is in demand so the aftermarket has picked up pretty well.

TDI guys especially complain about lack of any diesel knowledge in the dealership which is weird because 25-30% of all the cars are diesel. Stuff like injection pumps getting replaced for a dirty fuel filter are common. Then the IP is mistimed and the car never runs right again. There are TDI Gurus that buy cars from the dealership for pennies after the dealer mechanics screw them up (and the dealer takes them on trade) and flip for good profit.

Sad. In the 60s, vw dealers were know for good service. GUess they are the same as all the other stealers now.
