I know this subject is almost as contentious as oil, but....

I have a set of wheels for the SL500, factory wheels from a 2000-2001 SL500.
They are 17 x 8.25 245/45R17 wheels with the proper (ET 34) offset for my model
year. My stock wheels are 16" 12 hole alloys (ET 34) that have been chromed
and are badly pitted on the rim surface where the holes are located.

I'm not looking to spend a fortune on tires, nor am I hung up about a certain
brand. Believe it or not, I've had really good luck with BF Goodrich tires for
a few years, and I'm prone to go this route on these as well. On average the
ones I've bought have cost me in the $125-$150/each range.

I would be curious as to the collective wisdom of the list on other potential
brands.

Also, do they have to be "Z" rated? I'm seeing a lot of other speed ratings
for this size of tire, but no Zs.

Thanks,

Dan
