Whit the pedal to the floor, there is still a gap between the pedal arm and the switch.
Something is out of whack. Pull all the carpeting and see if it makes more sense. The bottom of the pedal where the rod goes in should contact the top of the switch. If it doesn't, either somebody has the wrong pedal in there, or the bottom pivot rusted off and it's been put back in the wrong place, somebody moved the switch, or the linkage has been moved somehow. -- Jim
