My friend escaped from Poland in 1981 and recently mentioned the scary time that could have been the big one in 1983 - in Poland. What was that? Nothing comes to mind. The push back against socialism in Poland was evidently bloodless, but the scary bit happened shortly after that revolution but I did not ask what that scary bit was? My friend indicates it could have been huge.
