And the original reason fro the holdup was the pipeline owner having no real 
answer for Nebraska on what their plans were to protect the environment should 
there be a leak (when there is a leak) out in the badlands...

Peter was probably correct in stating that that oil is destined for China. I 
will also add that the reason the pipeline is being blocked has more to do with 
money than environmental impact. When the economy tanked, Berkshire Hathaway 
bought up a railroad, mighty cheap. If you can't ship oil by pipeline, it gets 
shipped by rail. As with anything, one needs to "follow the money" to extract 
the real reasons behind anything.?
