Only difference is mechanics actually need to perform to collect a bill,
Doctors don't have to fix anything yet they still are allowed to
forceably collect money for non service. if a mechanic tried that, he'd
be in serious trouble.
Most mechanics spend far more time diagnosing a problem on a car than
doctors do on a human, strange since a human is supposed to so much more
complex.
at least when a mechanic rips you off, you can publically say he's
either a crook or a moron, make those statements about a DR and you
could wind up in court.
I'm just waiting for the day a doctor brings a car to my shop. I think
I'll keep it for a few days, tell him there's nothing wrong with the
thing...it's just depressed, suggest that he have the car talk to
someone and send him a bill for $1500 and pursue it vigorously .
----------Robert, who after 20 years of Dr's saying nothings wrong and
charging big for it, finds out that all my bones and joints are
disintegrating fast and I'm shopping for wheelchairs soon.
( to qualify, I did finally find a guy with a clue...after it's too late
to do anything about it. but 20 years...come on,I could have bought a
new car every 2 years on what I've been paying those clowns )
