You could get a Chromecast. Supposedly sends whatever your watching on your
computer to a TV. I've got one although I've never even set it up. It came as a
giveaway with my phone.
We haven't ever had cable, everything we watch now is online, Youtube, Hulu and
Amazon.Lately working through "Bar Rescue" where everybody that has a failing
bar apparently makes the same mistakes.

 Subject: [MBZ] TV options

The news is about the death of cable and other TV options.  I will
need to replace a failing tv some time.  We use a Make.com coat
hanger antenna.  No cable,  no internet connection to the tube at
this point.  On occasion I watch a youtube thing on the computer, but
to this point there is no crossover.

I could go out and buy a new TV.... but what are the alternatives?

If I bought a TV i'd spend $200 or less.

I saw an ad for a projector for $70 friday.  If I were to get a video
projector, could I not use a tuner card in and old computer and hook
that up to the projector for a TV?  Would that be much more of an
energy hog than using a tv?

Is there a simpler or more elegant or cheaper solution?  Would it
make sense to buy a big monitor an use a computer with a tuner card?

What exactly does an apple tv do?  It seems to be a glorified cable
box, or is there a tuner in it?

What are the pros and cons?

Where do you think the industry for viewing TV/streaming movies/dvd
movies/etc headed?

Any way to cobble a solution on the cheap?

One cheap solution is to wait until after Christmas and see if anyone
if throwing out an old tv, but most of those are CRT type.
