That's nice to know. I'm hoping 7 will work tolerably well on our Dell Inspiron 600m. > > The only reason the precision 360 video cards, (one is a quattro FX) > > I thought all the Nvidia cards had a monolithic driver that installed on > any Windows. Our computer has an ASUS motherboard that has an ATI video card built in. I bought an EVGA 256-P2-N751-TR Geforce 8600gt 256mb to use instead since it has more horsepower. With the open-source drivers that came with CentOS 5, displaying of Google Maps, particularly changing zoom levels, was intolerably slow. I then started using the NVidia binary-only drivers. These required a new build and new install every time the kernel was updated. At some point, I found the videos on YouTube had really strange color. I called NVidia and spoke with a very helpful fellow. He told me how to monkey things around so the videos looked proper. These changes had to be done with each kernel update, too. I finally got tired of all the hassle and bother (plus another reason I don't remember now) and yanked the NVidia card. I started using the built-in ATI card. There is now no hassle and things just work. I'm planning on not using NVidia cards on Linux.
