'92 should be old enough to work on yourself. Find the heater hoses where they go through the firewall and find out if they get hot. Might also see if the radiator hose coming out of the thermostat gets hot. If those two are no then start with a thermostat which should be pretty easy.If those two are yes then look for something under the dash From: Donald Snook via Mercedes <mercedes@okiebenz.com> To: Mercedes Discussion List <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 14, 2015 11:50 AM Subject: [MBZ] OT 1992 Ford F-150 I know a few folks on here have older Ford Pickups or had them previously. So, here is a question for them. I have a 1992 Ford F-150. I bought it last summer because my wife and I were going to a lot of estate sales and it seemed like we were constantly needing a truck. It's a decent truck with 144,000 miles. The body is straight and rust free. It needs a few things, but for the most part, it will just be used occasionally for hauling or moving stuff. BUT, it has NO heat. The fan comes on, but never gets warm. I checked the coolant and it is full. I suppose I could start with a thermostat. It seems like I remember something on the blend doors (I may be using the wrong term) on some old fords. Is that an issue on these? What else could it be?
The a/c also doesn't work. When it was hot, I turned the a/c on and it didn't cool. I checked and the clutch wasn't turning on the compressor. So, I gave it a tap and the clutch started turning. But, it never cooled. I filled it with 134. But, never did get cool. The a/c is obviously a non-issue for a while. But, NO heat is a little rough this time of year. Donald H.
