After thinking about it for awhile, I think the original post would be good for many members to print and keep for when the wife insists that "you get rid of that old thing and buy a New __________ or else" Then you pull out the post, and while she is reading it say "I won't because I love you too much to allow you to drive one of those unsafe ___________s"

<sly grin>

Fortunately, mine now appreciates fine old Mercedes and even Diesels. She initially was very jealous of my 200D because I have had it longer than her. 34 years for the 200D, only 29.5 for Wife 1.0. Last night she made the comment that our daughter was probably hit just as hard as the toyota was and it was a direct hit on the driver's side, but our daughter opened the door of her MB and walked away. I won't have to use the ploy above, but I know there are others who might find it useful!

Well said Loren,
If you ever have time and want to confirm your comments, take a walk thru a
auto recycler that has lots of MBs in his yard and check out the damaged
MBs. By its nature all the MBs will have been totalled but take a look at
the passenger compartments and you'll be amazed at how the vast majority
have virtually undamaged passenger compartments! Most have door which open
and close easily. In the times I've done this I have only seen *one* MB
where the drivers/passengers may have been killed. Looked like another can
hit the MB's roof while airborne.

Kaleb probably has some experience seeing this kind of thing --

As you know, they're incredibly safe cars and MB probably sells more than a
few cars to people who have recently been in an accident and want their next
car to be safer.
