I had missed that his electrical bills were $200/mo.

That's 5 megawatt-hours, or 17,060,708 BTU.

Uh, yeah, especially considering that only about 1/3 of the input energy
is converted to electricity, at best. Exhaust and radiator heat recovery
certainly will help.
