Why you wanna have a petting zoo?
I'm using rat traps on the chippies. Your "humane" traps just mean you
transport the critters to somewhere else that probably already has critters.
Those critters will defend their territory and somebody dies. Either from
injuries sustained in the fight or starvation. So all you're doing is subbing
out your killing to somebody else.
A real man kills when he must. In our case the chippies are ruining our
concrete front steps and tunneling under the supports for the neighbor's deck,
plus there are holes everywhere. They need to go.

Curt - any recommendations for a humane trap for 1) chipmunks and petite
bunnies, and 2) jumbo groundhog?

Ugh, armadillos small bad, worse than possums. They smell dead even when
they're alive.
Whatever you do to keep him out will have to be buried, he'll did under it
otherwise.
I've been trapping chipmunks, up to 5 so far plus one mouse that was in the
wrong place at the wrong time. The chippies seem to like pecans the best for
bait although today I'm experimenting with almonds.

Or pacify him:  Capture and bring him into the house so he can get to know
the family.
