Vapor lock?
Look for a small leak in the injector ring or injector hoses. I don't
remember much of an issue with that otherwise, but a slow leak there
can let all the gasoline leak out of the ring as it boils.
Leaks are a very common issue up there, and if you have a good sized
one you can fill the valley in the block with gasoline before you
smell it, I've know several to catch fire....
