I managed to keep a really cool ceramic fish thing that some colleague
brought, she had got it in Mexico and decided she did not like it. It
turned out I was #1 in the whole deal, and everyone wanted the fish but
the girl who brought it. She couldn't understand why it was so
popular. My daughter wanted the fish but I have managed to keep it.
It's about a foot long, painted quite vividly, I think it is awesome.
This event we called a Yankee Swap, which is probably racist, or
regionalist, or ethicist, or accentist, or some kind of ism.
My colleagues hated me for a week or so after, I had the fish in my
office and it caused this hate so I finally took it home and the hate
faded away but then the contention with my daughter started and she
still, like 17 years later, still agitates about taking it...

I've gotten some really terrible gifts but a couple good ones too, my Tardis night light
comes to mind.Last year Angie got a singing "Frozen" clock but gave it away
before I could get it into the trap thrower. I thought it would have made a really great
YouTube video.
