5th gear, MB diesels really want a 5th gear...

Change the diff. Only the 4 cyl Diesels need a 5th overdrive, but that is solved by putting a 300D diff under it.

Computer controlled doesn't mean less reliable, in fact my experience is that its easier to diagnose with less throwing parts at problems...

Then way do the computer controlled cars depreciate faster? 123 Diesels still bring pretty decent prices if they are on good condition. newer (more computerized) MB Diesels don't retain value as well. THat is not just my opinion, that is the market.

Lessee here... You take what might be argued as the world's most
reliable car, and put in an electronic slushbox to make it LESS
reliable?

Tell us why the _ _ _ _ anyone would want an electronic POS trans in a 123?

I'd be more likely to put an old 4 speed non electronic box in a
newer car because the electronics crap out.
