Horrible indeed. By any objective measure all but the poorest (or mentally ill) Americans (and most Westerners) live better than the peerage and royalty of that period. I would include things like hot running water, HVAC, nutrition, transportation, entertainment, medicine, etc. Too bad so many folks are spring-loaded to bitch about what they don't have vs enjoying what they do have.
