I think the zinc is a bigger issue for the older cars that used to run on leaded, or diesels. The newer stuff probably does not need that formulation. I seem to recall Marshall saying that the OM603 was not dependent on the older formulations and the current (2004 era) oils were just fine. I have no idea what the newest oils lack or provide
