I greased one door check today. It was salvage. Looked like new but was stamped 1991. I pulled out the balls and spring , greased everything with moly grease, packed inside the spring and cavity too. Then, put it back together.

Every one I have processed this way has never failed, (or squeaked) but it is a pain.

I thought I was on a roll so I took the other salvaged one apart. Oops! One ball was missing, and the spring was bent.

I found a spring at the True Value Hardware. It was #130 in the spring bins. 14mm OD x 42 or 43 mm long. Probably about 2mm wire dia. You can buy them at Danly.com also.

I ordered 10 balls from BocaBearing.com in FL for .72 each delivered. (15mm 100 finish)

I have another door check I can fix with one ball. when the balls come in next week.

While I was out this morning, I bought some grease fittings (1/4-28 thread) to try putting in the spring cyl so I can grease the door checks without taking them apart. (still have to take them out of the car.)

I need to replace one in the SDL, and at lease 2 in POSitive.
