What type of ATF did you use? You remind me that I need to put the belly
pans back on my 90 300D.

Probably wasn’t needed, but at least now I have a point of reference for
future fluid and filter changes. Car does shift a little better.

The other thing I did as a part of this was to install the front “noise
capsule” or forward belly pan that was missing when I got the car.

Wilton was kind enough to offer the belly pan from his former 350SDL that
he just happened to have. I had the hardware in my “box ‘o’ Mercedes
hardware” so that was nice.

The difference in the noise level of the engine with the panel in place was
amazing. I can’t believe how much quieter the car is with this panel
installed. Now I understand why Mercedes refers to them as “noise
capsules”.

A big “Thanks!” to Wilton for offering the part to me. Now it’s in a place
where it can continue its job for many more miles.
