Based on your hardware, FW will be the faster of the two, but if you‘re not worried about performance, go with USB if it’s cheaper. Your MacBook doesn’t have USB 3.0 to the best of my knowledge, so that’s pretty much lost on you if you get a 3.0 USB drive or enclosure.
