DAF? I had a PT Cruiser once and I concur it was a terrible "car" car in quotes because they call it an "SUV" but I don't see any sport or utility in it. The only thing I kind of liked was the clock, it was classy. Warning: Grossness aheadCoworker and I were driving around southern California in the PT Cruiser when I start to smell this horrible stink. I'm looking and him only to realize he's looking at me which is when we realize the stink is from the car! I pulled over and under one of the rear seats we find this puddle of what must have been baby vomit. They must have had one of the rear seats folded up and the kid projected to the other side of the cabin. As long as the car was cool it wasn't so bad but once it warmed up on a hot day...We opened all the windows and proceeded at top speed to the rental agency where they gave me another car. -Curt

My daily ride at the time was an '85 SDL. The PT was cramped, rode very hard, handled poorly, had less power and got way worse mileage than the SDL. Oh, and the esthetics were awful too. Ugly instrumentation. I guess the really worst car I've ever been aboard was a DAF, but the PT was a close second. Greg P.S.: The DAF was parked briefly in a cold lot. The tires froze to the pavement and the poor thing had too little power to break it free!!! -----Original Message----- From: Mercedes [mailto:mercedes-boun...@okiebenz.com] On Behalf Of Curt Raymond via Mercedes Sent: Monday, December 19, 2016 6:51 AM To: Mercedes Discussion List Cc: Curt Raymond Subject: [MBZ] OT: Worst rental car in awhile We use National for our rental cars which I like because it lets me try a variety of cars. This week I have a Hyundai Veloster. What a heaping pile of schmoo. I picked the car because it looks cool, other than that I hate everything about it, and this one smells. Rental cars often smell so I'm not completely holding that against it but it doesn't help. Its got 35 miles (well, now it does) on the clock and apparently everything that gets hot was coated in something really stinky. It got better after the ride to Burbank but its still present. Inside all of the ergonomics are terrible, the door handle is cool but it hides the window switches. The window switches are similarly shaped to the door locks so instead of opening the window I unlock the doors... As near as I can tell the car is designed for people with really short arms, even with the seat all the way back (plenty of legroom) the controls are too close. The rear wing is right in the line of sight looking out the rear window, you don't see the driver of the car behind you, you see the roof of the car and the bumper. The transmission feels like it was designed by Chrysler, huge delay when power is requested. Its supposed to have 132hp and its teeny but I bet any 124 diesel could outrun it, especially on the highway. The engine is very tinny and buzzy a completely non-delight. I'm surprised by this car as much as I like the Sonata and Elantra I dislike the Veloster... -Curt _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
