Glad he's ok!

One of my boys got T-boned by an old full-sized 'merkun SW while he was in a
W123 300D sedan. Not a scratch on him, totaled vehicle. These tanks are the
right stuff to protect our young drivers.

Subject: [MBZ] The S420 Gave Its Life - For Safety

Youngest son was hit today by a driver that lost control of their truck on a
wet street and overcorrected, slamming into the front left corner of his S420.
Both fenders, hood, even trim on A pillars was displaced. Crumple zones were
clearly defined by the way the car absorbed the hit. Based on what he
described, the seat belt squib fired but the air bag did not deploy. He was
stationary, the other driver hit him.

Called the EMTs and had him checked out - he’s OK but will be seeing a doctor
tomorrow. He was definitely freaking out and starting to go into shock, or at
least having major anxiety right after, so I insisted that the EMTs come. They
checked him out and he’s fine. I’m sure he’s going to be feeling it tomorrow.

I’m guessing the car will probably be totaled, so that means I need to start
putting together comps to do battle with the insurance company. This could be
a blessing in disguise, as the boy is off for a three month field study in a
couple of weeks, which means I’ll have plenty of time to find him a nice
replacement car with the settlement. An opportunity for more dieselfication….

Pictures to follow as soon as I figure out where to put them.
