Wouldn't a dead compressor dump into the evaporator?

And yes, Karl, it was a package deal from Four Seasons. Compressor,
receiver/dryer and expansion valve. They also want you to flush the system, but
since I'm replacing all the lines, condenser and adding a screen in the suction
side of the compressor, I'm covered.
