Very true. But a manual switch won’t start the generator and transfer the load when you’re not there, or when you have an outage in the middle of the night. A manual transfer switch is not load rated, and as such can’t be transferred while the circuit is live. Want a load rated switch? It will cost you as much or more than an ATS.
Gone for a few days? Extended outage? Time to clean out the freezer and refrigerator of that rotting meat. Yum. Sometimes trying to save a buck ends up costing more. -D > On Jul 29, 2017, at 7:06 PM, Craig via Mercedes <mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > > On Sat, 29 Jul 2017 19:02:32 -0400 Dan Penoff via Mercedes > <mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > >> A typical setup involves a standby generator and an automatic transfer >> switch or ATS. > > Note that an automatic transfer switch is more costly than a manual > transfer switch. > > > Craig > > _______________________________________ > http://www.okiebenz.com > > To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ > > To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: > http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com > > _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
