In disputing value of the SD, insco claimed it was worth $350 scrap.  But I 
called a number of local yards as the best I could get for two tons of car was 
$70.  That scrap price is much less than the coparts price.  Makes me think the 
plan was to sell Allen on with the hope it would bring very close to the 
payout.   Had the car actually gone to a PnP, it would have been offered as a 
rebuilder, which would be priced close to $1800.

The time is coming for the shuttered steel plants in Amreeka to be fired back 
up.  Anybody recall the current stories about the steel out of asia that had QC 
data falsified?  Do we trust our weapons systems to chinese metal?
